If no one buys a ticket to a movie, does the movie still play?!
Question: If no one buys a ticket to a movie, does the movie still play!?
Answers:
If a ticket to a movie isnt sold within the first fifteen minutes, the film is switched off!.
To do this, you turn off the bulb (Not like an ordinary bulb, this is a massive one and costs a fortune) and presses the 'end' button on the projector!. This then stops every aspect of the machine, and will turn the wall lights in the screen back on!.
You then unhook part of the film that you have threaded into the main part of the projector, leaving it still threaded through the platters!.
By restarting the projector, and moving whats called the 'arm' of the platter, the film 'fast forwards' without playing on the screen!. This is a quicker way to run through the film, or run down the credits at the end of the night!.
The heat is generally switched off, and sometimes the whole power to the screen ie for the wall and floor lights are turned off too to save power!.
Generally speaking, if a film plays for more than half an hour without being cancelled, and you have a long break between the film finishing and the next going in, you simply turn off the bulb and the 'playing' factor of the projector, and let it run through the machine as is!. This allows you to run it in the projection room, but not in the screen!.
When we cancel a show, we call it 'comping'!. This is because you must print a ticket (A complimentary one) to show up in your figures at the end of the night that the screen was empty, but that the film was supposed to run if people turned up for it!.
also, the cost for running an average film for the 2!.5 hour average duration is only about €5!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Generally Yes - just incase someone comes in late!.
The projectionist might switch the projector lamp off to save electricity, but the film needs to run through so that it can be started again properly for the next show!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
