Okay, so for my 13th birthday my friends and I saw The Dark Knight, and at the end I got a little lost!. So, at the end why did Gordon set the dogs on Batman!? Is it because Gotham needed a hero with a face, if so explain!. also, in the movie it is said that the Joker kills for fun and nothing else, does he have a motive in the comics, if so what!? A back story of him would be nice-links!!. also how do your rate the movie! I thought it was a disturbing and awesome! What about you guys! (Heath was awesome, too bad he died)Www@Enter-QA@Com

You're pretty much spot on with why Gordon released the dogs- Batman simply isn't the vigilante hero that Gotham City needs!.!. One of the more complicated facets of Batman's personality is that he does not fight crime for the good of Gotham City- he fights crime to avenge his parents and rid the city streets of the scum responsible for their deaths!. He has more of a personal vendetta than a moral obligation!. Heath Ledger's Joker broke tradition in many respects- The Joker is normally portrayed much more similarly to Jack Niccholson in the Tim Burton movie (which I also recommend)!. Heath took a huge risk with making The Joker his own character, and I think that's what gives the movie so much power- The Joker is absolutely frightening!.!. In the comics, The Joker is slightly more of a "comic" figure while Heath's portrayal leaned more to the tragic side!. However, the nihilism is still there- killing people for the fun of it and bringing the city closer to chaos!.!. It's all there in the comics!.

As for how I rated the movie, I would say that it did not necessarily excel as a traditional comic book movie- this is not the movie you grab some popcorn and watch leisurely!. This is a crime drama that is on par with modern classics such as The Usual Suspects, and Ledger as The Joker is a character study of sociopaths on par with Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs!. This is not the movie that you bring your 7-year-old kids to watch, even though there wasn't all that much violence explicitly shown!. I was skeptical of the Harvey Dent/Two Face plot line when I first heard about it (I prefer one superhero and one villain more often than not, Spiderman 3 failed in part because it was too ambitious with three villains that he had to face- I would have loved to see a solid Spiderman- Venom showdown), but it was executed extremely well and showed The Joker's drive to prove that even the most upstanding of citizens can succumb to insanity given the right conditions!. All in all, it lived up to the massive hype!.

I strongly suggest that you pick up a comic book or two- as cool as movies are, a little bit of comic book background really adds to the movie!. You might want to start off with "The Killing Joke"!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Batman wanted to protect Harvey's good name!. If the people knew Harvey went bad, they might not want to make Gotham good again, so Batman became the criminal so Harvey could be the hero!. He knew the dogs and the cops wouldn't catch him, so he told Gordon to blame the cop deaths on Batman; he could take the blame but not get caught!. No, the Joker doesn't have a motive in the comics, as far as I know; he';s just crazy!. There are several different back stories for the Joker, depending on the story line followed!. Look for a book called "Batman: The Ultimate Guide To The Dark Knight" by Scott Beatty!. It's an older book, but it may be re-released since the movie came out!. Look in the graphic novel section of the book stores!. It has some great info on the world of Batman!. Have fun!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
