Question: Was "Titanic" (1997) adapted from another Scource, ie: book; previous film; etc!.!?
Or, was the making the film about the actual Tragedy an adaptation anyway, ie: based on a real life event!?

Of course Titanic was a real ship, which sank April 15th 1912 (May it's passengers RIP)!. The characters "Jack" and "Rose" were not real, neither their love story!. Although there actually was a J!. Dawson (his name was Joe Dawson) on board, in the third class!. The story of Titanic was based off of what witnesses saw, research, and there was another movie called "A night to Remember" which Titanic was based off of a little!.
Though the character "Rose" was based off of a real woman!. Her name was Dorothy Gibson and she was on the Titanic in first class and she was an actress like how Rose was in the end!. She survived the sinking!.

neither was bill paxtons character or his crew etc
however, all the titanic crew and passengers were real people from the real event
it is basically fiction and reality blended very well together
to make an excellent movie
