well that is THE starwars question because as everyone sees that george lucas began his films in this sequence!.
4th------5th------6th------(bunch of years later) ---------1st-------------2nd----------th!.!.!. the 3rd!.
so it was confusing to many people but this is how it was filmed and released!. the last 3 were out years ago and recently the first 3 were made! so hope that answered ur question! anakin was a little boy in the first movie!.!.!.!.!.then was padawan and fought in clone wars in the second movie!.!.!.!.!.turned evil into darthvader in the 3rd movie!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.and the 4, 5, and 6th move is about luke skywalker and at the end defeating anakin (darthvader)

Yes, the new Clone Wars movie is animated, and it does feature Anakin Skywalker!. This movie (and the following TV series) take place before Anakin becomes Darth Vader!.
Star Wars chronology can be a little confusing, as the movies were not released in "in-universe" sequence!. The Clone Wars happen between movies, namely, between "Attack of the Clones" and "Revenge of the Sith!." We see the start of the war in "Attack of the Clones" and the brutal end in "Revenge of the Sith!."

clone wars is the filler between attack of the cones (star wars ep II) and revenge of the sith (episode III)!.

the movie clone wars takes place between parts 2-3!. it was cheaper to do anime than build the sets!. pay for the production of major film!. and can be made fasterWww@Enter-QA@Com

Because the new movie is set in between ep II & ep III !.!.!. Anakin doesn't fall to the dark side until ep III!.
The movies were made and released in this order:
4, 5, 6 -- 16 years -- 1, 2, 3
In time line form it is of course !.!.!.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
so since this movie is in between ep II & ep III Anakin Skywalker is still a powerful Jedi kicking droid butt all over the place!.
Why is it animated !.!.!. the two easy answers that pop to mind is much cheaper and much easier !.!.!. but there are other reasons!.
One of the main ones is that you can tell a much larger story using animation than you can using "real" people!. To add onto what Dark Knight said !.!.!. in essence we don't really know much about the Clone Wars themselves!. ep II ends with the beginning of the Clone Wars and ep III starts a the end of the Clone Wars so there are many, many stories to tell in the time period of the Clone Wars!.
In 2003 & 2004 during the run up to the release of ep III Lucas had TCN (The Cartoon Network) do a micro-series using animation that showed a few of the many battles of the Clone Wars!. They ended up doing 3 "seasons" made up of 25 five minute short stories!. The new movie is NOT a remake of this series as some have tried to say in this forum and they are NOT 3-D like some have also tried to say in this forum !.!.!. in truth they add to the story!. The new movie will also be a kick off to a new animated series on TCN that is set to debut this fall!. These won't be the 5 minute shorts of the micro-series !.!.!. they will be full half hour episodes!. The new movie and series will be in between ep 21 and ep 25 of the micro-series!.
