If you ignore the fact that the drug issues in the movie are pretty exagerrated and unrealistic (designed to scare 13 year olds who wouldn't know the difference), it's still mildly entertaining!.
The best things in the film are Jared Leto being really hot and the movie soundtrack!.
In reality, if a guy with a very visible arm infection was thrown to jail without getting medical treatment, he'd be able to sue everyone!. In fact, the doctor that denied him treatment would have been thrown into jail!. Even if the person in front of you was a serial killer, as a doctor you're forced to treat him or you wil go to prison!. I know because I've seen it with my own eyes (I've actually seen a famous serial killer in a hospital once a few months ago, the doctors didn't refuse one second to treat him even though they knew what he did!.)!. Jennifer's character would have sold everything in her apartment before selling her body for heroin!.
Jared Leto's mother would have died from dehydration!. And as for the electroshock treatment turning someone into a vegetable, it's like the script writers got ideas from bad medical horror flicks from the 50's!.
Real electroshock therapy is rarely used these days and it's reasonably safe (they'd still have to wait for months to see if the antidepressive drugs don't work to even consider using it)!. In fact, the patient by LAW has to be under general anesthesia (in the movie the woman was screaming in pain which is a big fallacy)!.
And as for the scene where the so called doctor was trying to force her to eat!. In medicine we have a little something called, prepare for this innovative thing OH MY!!

You just plug it in her nose and feed her instead of trying to shove a cup of pudding into her mouth and wonder whether she'll end up with pneumonia if you actually did this!. It's as simple as that!. The tube can stay in there for a long period of time!.

One of the better movies I've seen!. I haven't seen it in a while though!. I watched it on either the Movie Channel or Showtime a few years ago!. Makes you look at Jennifer Connelly in a whole new way, if you get my meaning!. ;-)Www@Enter-QA@Com
