The butterfly has nothing to do w/ the cure!.
The cure turns out to be where Robert injects his own blood into the 18-yr old vampire he had trapped and captured!. Then when that vampire starts turning normal, tht's when he realizes that it's her blood (mixed w/ his own) tht is the cure!.
The only time the butterfly is mentioned is when his daughter is in the car at the time of evacuation and she is making a butterfly w/ her hand and tells Robert to talk to the butterfly or something!.
And I think he sees a picture again in his daughter's room later, but I am not sure about that!.

If you have the DVD, then you have both ending with him dying as well as surviving!. The original ending the he saw the butterfly on the ladies back!. It didn’t mean anything really, he gave her the blood of the night stalker I think he called them and sent her to the other survivors!. Now in the alternate ending the main night stalker beat the shape of the butterfly in the glass, he knew the other one had a tattoo as well letting him know he wanted his Girl back (I guess)!. He gave her back, and then it ends with Robert, the lady and her son leaving to go to the other survivors!. That’s what I got out of itWww@Enter-QA@Com
no!.!.it didnt help him discover the cure!.!.it was a part earlier in the movie where his kid told him not to hurt the butterfly!.!.and remeber when those thingys were tryna break in and he wanted 2 kill them!? his kid was telling him that it was ok so dont hurt the butterfly, u know just talk 2 them and they will understand!. !.!.!.!.!.!.!.ok i have a funny comment about the movie!. we were watching it a couple of days before school was out and then when the movie went off this one girl asked " is that a true story"!.!.like come on! the movie was futuristic!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
it doesnt really seem like it does, i think the ppl who made it liked butterflies forgot to have something happen with the butterflys and decided to just throw somethin out there!.!.
