i almost forgot this is yahoo question!.!.so here is the question : do you love "casablanca" for it's cinematic greatness or just because most movie icons are selling it as one (if not the one) of the best movies of all time !?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
Well, it was shot DURING WWII, so it would be a little hard to go to French Morocco and film amongst the real Nazis, French, and Moroccans!.

Cinematically, Casablanca is not considered a masterpiece!. It is not known for its great camera work, or interesting shots!. It is very straight forward!. The plot itself isn't very good as it has GIANT loopholes (papers signed by a disposed leader - why would the Nazis accept those!?)!. People love the film because of the actors, and the characters they play!.

This is a case of a classic film that is a classic simply because people fall in love with the characters!. Don't watch it looking to be awed by its artistry, watch it for fun!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It was shot on a set!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

you don't understand the chemistry between bogart and ingrid bergman!. plus the casting that included peter lorre, claude raines and other legends!. there was also the fact they used black and white film and had to work more with lighting, shadows and camera angles!. it's about a cynical ex-patriated american who, through a visit by a former lover, finds his patriotism in nazi occuppied africa and who has to choose between having this lover for himself or doing the right thing and letting her go!. unfortunately, i cannot blame you for not finding the movie fascinating-everything now is special effects and reused storylines-casablanca has been ripped off in many many movies!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
