Question: A book that is the sequel to Star Wars Return of the Jedi!?
I know there are books that continue the series beyond Episode VI!. I'm wondering what the books are labeled!. I want to continue on with the series and know more!. I know there is going to be a possible movie!. Why wouldn't there be, there is a lot of money behind it!. There is a new movie coming out on August 15th this year but it is a "fill in the blanks" movie, NOT a new episode of the Saga, there won't be anymore of them because the story is complete in that respect!. The new movie will be a full length animated movie and will be set in between ep II and ep III and will add to the story that was told in the Cartoon Networks micro-series the did in 2003 & 2004 to help bridge the gap between the two movies and to add to the "spin" for the release of ep III!.

As for the books of the EU (Expanded Universe), Mandy is right that the first book after ep VI is titled "The Truce At Bakura" however, it takes place the day after the events Return Of The Jedi not the couple she says!. The other part of her comment: "George Lucas has said if he continued the story, he would have no regard for these many books and their storylines!." is based on old data and is no longer the case when it comes to George's view of the EU!. Personally I have never understood how he thought he could get a way with saying the books were not part of his story when in fact he had to give the final OK on a books story line and it's content!. The simple truth is that without out the books of the EU, more specifically The Thrawn Trilogy, we wouldn't be here talking about Star Wars because it would be a dead subject!. It is highly ironic that it was the books, novels, and comics that came out after ep VI, especially the comics done by Marvel, that put the Star Wars story on its death bed and that it was the books, novels, and comics that have come out since 1991 that have brought the Star Wars story back to life and made it so this saga will never be forgotten!. I don't know how old you are but if you're in your late 30's as I am, of course if you're not it kind of ruins the point I will be trying to make but it might work !.!.!. lol !.!.!. Think back to the time around 89 and 90, if you were to walk up to somebody on the street and ask them what they thought of Star Wars probably about 90% of them would say that it was the worst idea that Reagan ever had!. The other 10% would have been us old school die-hards who would tell you that it was the greatest movie trilogy of all time!. That all changed in 91!. In 1991 the first of three books, authorized by Lucas himself, written by Timothy Zahn came out!. The title of the first one was "Star Wars: Heir To The Empire!." I remember seeing it at the book store and getting instantly ticked off about it!. I figured it was just another book written by someone who wanted to cash in on Star Wars in some way and further ruin the story I loved so much!.

After a couple weeks I said the hell with it and got the book!. I was ready to hate it as the piece of junk that I figured it was!. It only took about 3 pages of that book to re-ignite the flame of Star Wars inside of me that had been flickering for years trying to go out!. The book was AWESOME !.!.!. finally, we had a real Star Wars story being told!. When I finished the first book I went back to the book store and got the second book of the trilogy titled "Star Wars: Dark Force Rising"!. Again, a GREAT book!. I had to wait 4 months for the final book of the trilogy to come out and when it did I read it cover to cover in one sitting !.!.!. I literally couldn't put it down !.!.!. it was that good!. The title of that book was "Star Wars: The Last Command"!. These books brought fans out of the woodwork and suddenly it wasn't a "high crime" to say that you were a Star Wars fan!. When Lucas commissioned Zahn to write these three books what he was really trying to do was see if there was still a fan base out there for Star Wars!. His answer from the fans was a resounding YES !.!.!. but fans also made it know that if Lucas gave us good stories we would be right there to eat it up but we would not tolerate "bad" stories!. If you trace the resurgence of Star Wars back you will find that it began with these 3 books and gained strength and momentum with each new book that came out !.!.!. in short Zahn is one of the main reasons why the story of Star Wars is alive again and kicking butt all over the place !.!.!. as long as Lucas and the writers keep giving us good stuff we the fans will be right there to soak it all in!.

You can probably see where I'm going with this so I'll just get it out of the way!. If you want to feel the "magic" of Star Wars in a book then The Thrawn Trilogy is the place to start!. There are a ton of new characters introduced, Thrawn for one who is the last surviving Grand Admiral left in the Imperial Navy!. He wasn't around during the battle of Endor because the Emperor had sent him out on the "fringes" of the galaxy, also known as the "Unknown Regions", to search for life and other potential planets to settle on!. This trilogy is set 5 years after the events of Return Of The Jedi!. Upon returning from his "mapping mission" Thrawn found the Empire in chaos and a New Republic in power for about 80% of the galaxy!. Thrawn took control of the remnants of the Imperial Navy and !.!.!. well if I say any more it might ruin the story for you so I'll shut up !.!.!. lol

All that being said please don't think that I'm trying to say that The Truce At Bakura is a bad book because it isn't !.!.!. it is actually pretty good but if you want to feel the joy of Star Wars ignite inside your heart then The Thrawn Trilogy is the place to start!. After that I always recommend the X-Wing book series!. Lots of great story lines and new characters with only cameo appearances of the "Big 3" of Han, Luke, & Leia!.

Reading these books will give you a solid base to let the other books build onto the story !.!.!. in my opinion anyways!.

May The Force Be With You !.!.!.

PS: In most of the pb copies of the books there is a time line in the front of them that can also tell you the order of the books!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

'Truce At Bakura' takes place a few days after Return of the Jedi!. All of the major characters from the films are in it!. There are tons more books with them!.

But George Lucas has said if he continued the story, he would have no regard for these many books and their storylines!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
