The Flying Dutchman must have a captain!. The captain can only be killed by stabbing his heart and then a new heart has to take it's place!. The job of the captain of the Flying Dutchman is to guide the dead souls to the other world!. Davy Jones didn't do this and that's why he and his crew became sea creatures and such!. This fate is not necessarily what will happen to Will Turner, as long as he does his job!. Not sure if you watched after the credits!.!.!.if not, go back and watch that!.
The whole ending (w/ Jack) was done in case they want to come back and make another film!. I was under the impression that he'd cut the part of the map out that led to the Fountain of Youth!. Which means one sip and you'd live for eternity or something like that!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

At World's End really was confusing!.!.!.I had to watch it twice and I'm still confused!.
Yep, Will became the captain of the Flying Dutchman because he was the one that stabbed Davy Jone's heart!. He has to leave Elizabeth because the captain is only able to step on land once every 10 years (I think, been awhile since I watched it)!.
