Jason and the Argonauts Skeleton Fight what did you think of it?!

Question: Jason and the Argonauts Skeleton Fight what did you think of it!?
Answers:
For 1963, a masterpiece of stop-motion animation!. After designing and animating a single sword-wielding skeleton fight in The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad, effects creator Ray Harryhausen topped himself and every other stop-motion animator of the time in Jason by creating a multi-actor battle with seven independently animated skeletons, doing all the animating himself, by hand, without the use of computers, reference videos, or complex electronics!.coordinating the action frame-by-frame with the filmed actors' movements over a period of weeks and long, long workhours!.

The entire film is top-drawer fantasy, with Harryhausen's animation sequences, including an immense bronze warrior (Talos) attacking the Argonauts, a marauding pair of flying harpies, and a seven-headed Hydra, unsurpassed in imagination and wonder!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Unlike others, I dislike a lot of computer animation!. I think the special effects on Star Trek looked more realistic when they used matting!. Yes, you can accomplish things with it that you couldn't otherwise, but was it really better for Jabba The Hutt to be a muppet rather than human!?

Reflecting upon when I first saw it, I thought the slightly jerky motions of the skeletons looked more frightening than smooth movement would have!.

Harryhausen was great! I'd also recommend the Sinbad series, and Mysterious Island!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It is an awesome fight!. You need your imagination when you watch these kinds of films!. I still think the scene is totally cool and I enjoy watching it today as much as I did years ago!. And if you watch how the skeletons work together when they fight the argonauts it is a really good scene!. Plus I like how they grew out of the teeth (of the Hydra, was it!?)Www@Enter-QA@Com

It was awesome at the time, but like a lot of HH's stop-motion work, looks dated in these days of CGI!. The 'green screening' (I think it was blue back then) is also a bit dodgy, you can see a blur where the models are matted into the live action!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Loved it! Ray Harryhausen was a genius!. Great film averall!.

Harryhausen is designer/maker of the FX in the film!. And he's done loads of other stuff too!.

So much better than most CGI around today!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
