Question: Citizen Kane!?!?!?

b) It's practically Shakespearean in it's tragicly flawed antagonist
c) It is a perfect example of the uniquely American rags-to-riches-to-moral ruin - "American Dream" story (in the end Kane has everything he could possibly want, but has no marriage, no family, no meaning, and has been corrupted by his own power!.)
Technically, as in the techniques of filmaking, it introduced countless techniques we take for granted today (split screen, swipes, again the angles, vantage and focal 'tricks'!.!.!.!.) all these things had never been used previous to Citizen Kane!.

Couple with the fact that movies before this, were straightforward narratives!. Like watching a play!. Film making was static and dull!.
As a student or lover of film, you can appreciate the freshness of this film for its time!.
Another example is the I love Lucy television series!. Every single sitcom convention that we take for granted!. Every overused plot!. Every ridiculous gag, and silly idea were all done on this show first!. But if you went back to watch it now!. You might not laugh, because you saw it first on Full House, or Who's The Boss or some other lame show!.
But I Love Lucy is genius!.
The film was so ahead of its time!. That in fact it was a complete disaster!. A bomb!. Like when Marty McFly started playing heavy metal music in Back To The Future!. 1940's audiences weren't ready for Citizen Kane!.!. yet!.
And don't worry if you don't like it now!. It's like Shakespeares written works!. Sure having to watch King Lear is boring!. But you can appreciate it for having inspired so much other writing and works!.
