OK I was watching the first part on tv but I didn't really understand what was going on!. I'll have to watch it again, but what is it about & whats happening in the begining!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

in the beginning of the movie, you learn that after the destruction of the death star in episode IV (a new hope), the rebel alliance (the side that luke skywaker fought for against the death star at the end of the previous episode) has had to hide from the evil gallactic empire on the hoth system!. it's an ice planet!. in the beginning the empire sends out several probe droids throughout the galaxy in an attempt to find the rebel's hidden base!. one of the probes lands on the hoth system where the rebel base is, and vader orders an attack on the base!. when the empires fleet comes out of light speed at the hoth system, the rebels are able to see them because they come out of light speed too close to the system!. as a result, the rebel alliance engages an energy shield around the base to prevent a direct attack by the empire!. so the empire is forced to use a ground assault, landing outside the energy field using giant walkers to attack the base, the primary target they are aiming for is the power generator which will drop the energy field and allow the empire to attack directly!. meanwhile the rebels know they can't repel a full attack, so they are forced to mount a defense against the walkers to buy enough time for the rebels to escape the system!. luke who was badly injured and almost died until being rescued by his friend han solo now leads the defense in speeders against the walkers!. meanwhile the rebels launch a series of transports and momentarily drop the energy field as each transport leaves using an ion cannon to fire cover against the star destroyers, each transport knowing a rendezvous point in space where the rebels will meet up eventually!. after moderate success stalling the walkers, the walkers eventually overtake the rebels defenses, luke is shot down but survives, and the lead walker destroys the power generator!. luke then boards his x wing and escapes the system!. han solo, leah, c3po, and r2d2 escape in the millinium falcon just in the nick of time as the empirial troops now storm the base!. since the millinium falcon's hyper drive is broken, a long chase ensues between the empirial fleet and the falcon!. meanwhile, luke proceeds to degobagh, a swamp like planet to find a jedi master known as yoda for jedi training!. i will leave you with that!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Here's a summary: The story of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia and the others didn't end with the destruction of the Death Star - it continues in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK!. Imperial forces have since driven the Rebels to hide on the ice world Hoth!. But even on such an icy, backwater world, they cannot escape the wicked Darth Vader's eye for long, and he devastates the Rebel base in an assault with the horrible AT-AT walkers!. Luke flees to Dagobah to begin Jedi Knight training with Yoda, while Han Solo, Chewbacca, Princess Leia and C-3PO run the blockade of Imperial Star Destroyers in the Millenium Falcon!. The Imperials pursue them across the galaxy and eventually catch up with them at Bespin!. Now Darth Vader plans to use them as bait to lure Luke Skywalker to him, and turns Han Solo over to Boba Fett as a prize to be delivered to crime lord Jabba the Hutt!.
