Why do films look different to some tv shows i.e. camera wise?!


Question: Why do films look different to some tv shows i!.e!. camera wise!?
a film / motion picture e!.g!. Scary Movie 4 looks different to something like a normal tv show for example That's So Raven!.!.!.wat i'm trying to say is that a film has that 'film look' to it like u can tell ur watchin a film but with somethin like that's so raven u no that it cnt be a film!.!.!.and then with a live television show like American Idol!.!.!.!.it looks different as well!.!.!.o yeh and wat about home movies watz da deal with that!?!?!?

and before n e one starts to think 'wat an idiot'!.!.!.I NO THEY USE DIFFERENT CAMERAS it's obvious but does anyone know what ones they are / types etc!.!.!.sorry i cnt b more specific than that but i'm sure someone out there will figure out what i'm trying to say!?!?!?!.!.!.is my english corrupt!.!.!.!?!?!

Answers:
Movies are made on 35 mm film, or sometimes even on 70 mm film, and TV shows are recorded on videotape!. There's the difference!. There is also a different aspect ratio between the height and the width of the image between movies and TV shows; matter of fact, movies have at least two different ratios available, letterbox being the name of one (when shown in letterbox format on your TV, there are blank bands of black above and below the image!.)Www@Enter-QA@Com
