they dont tell you in the movie, so i had to do some research!. but the killers are robbers!. when the character played by liv tyler asks 'why are you doing this'!. dollface responds 'because youre home!.' Meaning we had planned to rob you!. you just ruined our plans!. This is because the movie is based on an event that happened to the director when he was young in which someone rung his doorbell asking for someone who did not live there!. later on he found out that empty houses in his neighborhod were being robbed!. and it was said that the suspects wore masks!. the movie was simply a 'what if'!. what if someone were home during a attempted robbery!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
You never really see their faces clearly, so I think their identity is supposed to be left unknown!. It makes it a little creepier and more disturbing!. I think they are just some random psychopaths who go around killing people for fun though!. In my opinion it wasn't anyone they knew personally, but I could be wrong :-)Www@Enter-QA@Com
they couldn't have been people they knew because there was barely anyone else in the movie that we see them talk to or associate with!.
