Out of Curiosity (Silent Films)?!
Question: Out of Curiosity (Silent Films)!?
Most of the emphasis in this venue seems to be on current movies, which I guess is to be expected, but I'm curious about the number of members that have any sense of film history, specifically, I would like to know how many of you have ever seen a silent movie!? If so, what was it, and did you like it!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yes!.!.!.I like all kinds of film! Early movies are fascinating because they didn't have the resources and technology that they have today!.
I think Charlie Chaplin movies are excellent! Even though his movies are almost primative, it was superb acting for that era!. The first silent film I saw was 'City Lights'!.
I also enjoy watching subtitled movies!.!.!.!.it's always interesting when an element is missing from a film!.!.!.it makes you watch it harder and pay better attention versus a movie that's special effects drowned out the deeper story!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I've quite a few Charlie Chaplin movies-
City Lights (-which I LOVE--- the ending makes me so happy every time)
The Kid
The Gold Rush
Clara Bow is also a big one-
The It Girl
Mantrap
A few Buster Keaton movies (titles escape me at the moment)!.!.!. And of course, "A Trip to the Moon"
I love them personally- they are a ton of fun!. But then again I grew up when AMC and Turner Classic Movies actually played CLASSIC movies and films from the 1920s through the 70s!.!.!. I watched all the Jimmy Cagney movies, all the musicals from the 30s/40s/50s!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I have seen several silent movies, 2 are really great:
Nosferatu - the first vampire movie, a real classic! http://en!.wikipedia!.org/wiki/Nosferatu
Metropolis - This sci-fi movie inspired most of the modern directors, even Stephen Spielberg has seen this movie and inspired him to make something like that!. http://en!.wikipedia!.org/wiki/Metropolis_!.!.!.
Not to forget Charlie Chaplin or the early Laurel and Hardy movies!. :)Www@Enter-QA@Com
