Do you think people understand the message in Fight Club?!

Question: Do you think people understand the message in Fight Club!?
in the movie 'fight club' , is Tyler Durden in fact a leader of men with a useful philosophy!? He says: 'It's only when we lose everything, that we are free to do anything!.' In my opinion, he has no useful truths!. He's a bully!. None of the Fight Club members grows stronger or freer because of their membership; they're reduced to pathetic cultists!.
One critic says it makes "a telling point about the bestial nature of man and what can happen when the numbing effects of day-to-day drudgery cause people to go a little crazy!."
Although sophisticates will be able to rationalize the movie as an argument against the behavior it shows, my guess is that audience will like the behavior but not the argument!. A lot more people will leave the movie and get in fights than will leave it discussing Tyler Durden's moral philosophy!.
What do you think!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
what i got from the movie is this

it showed us how mundane our lives have become and how we live for useless things "work jobs we hate so we can be crap we dont need"

i saw it as an attack on consumerism and our lifestyle
either way, it's an awesome movie

edit- I disagree with RD, if you read the book and pay attention to the movie, there is a message there!. FYI- it's found in the drama sectionWww@Enter-QA@Com

I thought the movie was entertaining, but I didn't want to create a fight club after I saw it!. I think the movie is entertaining because it is so multifaceted!. For example, the humor of self help groups, the humor of consumerism, the humor of cultists, violence, and of course the humor of mental illness!. This movie made grin at things that normally make me frown!. If you liked this movie, or didn't particularly like the violence in it, check out Memento, or Identity instead!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think that it can make viewers more aware of just how easily a man can be striped of a basic moral code and act animalisticly for acceptance from a group!. I mean we are talking about a range of men from a range of socioeconomic backgrounds that all drop their lives and their beliefs to join what is essentially a cult of violence!. So I think that in many ways the movie leaves an audience more weary of violence than making them more likely to commit violent acts!. It can lead to the realization that violence leads to destruction!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

WTF !? You just ruined that movie for me !.!.!.it WAS one of my favorites!.

You're reading way too much into it !.!.it's a MOVIE about men beating the hell out of each other, made for ENTERTAINMENT !!!!

Leave the moral crap to dramas !!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

What!? If I had to think about all that when watching Fight Club the movie would have sucked!Www@Enter-QA@Com

There are a lot of people out there who can't take a message away from anything!. Most people who really loved the movie did because they saw the deeper point!. Look at another great Edward Norton movie, Americain History X!. It is full of violence and racism, which is what drew people to the movie in the first place, yet does that take away from the message!? No it simply magnifys the power of the movie!. Sure if you just watch the first 3/4 of Fight Club that may be all that you take away but the ending brings everything together!. It is the dual personalitys of Durden that bring the point across!. Sure a lot of people walked away thinking that a Fight Club would be so cool, but I walked away seeing just how stupid mindlessly following is!. Odd that by showing how stupid and futile it is to become a pathetic and mindless cultist who never questions anything it got people wanting to be one!. Most of the people I've talked to see the deeper meaning in the movie, those that don't just have trouble looking past the surface of anything, they kind of remind me of Durdens minions actually!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
