Well the practical answer is that the filmmakers always intended to keep Natalie Portman, a versatile actress who could go from player a teenager to a young women, in the Padme/Princess Ameidala role, while the young actor cast as Anakin was sufficient for the child's role but obviously inappropriate to play the reckless, impulse Anakin who become Darth Vader!. No, it doesn't make sense, but the producers were willing to sacrifice continuity for the look of the actor they wanted!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
ok, so in episode one queen amidala is 14 and anakin is 8 i think!. So in episode two anakin is 18 or 20 and amidala is in her mid 20s!. Natalie Portman was able to play a 14 year old in episode one (with make-up) and did fine as someone closer to her age in the other two films!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Maybe because the Queen travelled more than Anakin!.!. moving through space with (or near) the speed of light makes you age slower in comparison to stationary folks!.!. so said Einstein!.

in 5 years she could be 21-22 and still look very you, (for a queen/politician) and he could look like a 17, i know a few that have been mistaken for being 25Www@Enter-QA@Com
