Question: Does anyone know how much a movie needs to make at the box office to be considered a hit!?
Answers:
You have to consider a few things regarding this subject!. First of all, you have to realise that the biggest blockbusters these days cost fortunes to produce and to market!. As another contributor here noted, major studios say that a movie is a hit when the box office receipts cover the production costs because it's so expensive to make!.
Yet another extremely important thing to bear in mind is that of the total theatrical box office grosses for films listed in tracking surveys, the sudios only get an average of 55% and I think that also applies to the box office figures around the world - thus, if any film grosses a 100 million in theaters, the studio gets only 55 million; for other amounts you just have to do the math!.
And last, but certainly not the least, these days the studios get the biggest chunk of their movie revenues from DVD/video rentals and sales, and from sales to networks and cable channels alike for TV broadcasting showings!.
I hope this helps!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Usually if the movie clears the cost of production, studios will consider it a hit!. Most audiences will consider it a hit if it has a strong box office showing ( IE being a number 1 movie for several weeks)!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

thats more of an opinion thing!. its not like theres an official mark to hit and suddenly its considered a hit!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

probably more than speed racer made, especially for a big summer movie!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
