Question: Why do the footsteps of the actors and actresses sound so loud in those old movies!?!?
Answers:
In older black and white movies the sound effects, including footsteps, were added later!. The sound volume sometimes got a little off!.

It was a real person who you hear, it's just not the actor you see!. The sounds effects man would watch the film and walk in sync with the actor on a suitable floor surface that best matched the ground or floor in the movie!. Sometimes he would jump back and fourth between, for instance, gravel, hard wood, and concrete, all in framed boxes sitting on the sound effects room floor!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Because they are using sound files to make the sounds!. It's not the real person who's walking!. It's just how loud they have it turned up!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
