Actors with Talent or Special Effects?!
Question: Actors with Talent or Special Effects!?
For anyone with a opinion!. Are the movies you watch better because of the actors and their ability to make you a part of the movie or do you go more for the blow em' up shoot em' up types of movies!? I myself prefer good acting over special effects but I occasionaly admire a movie where there is lot's of action and explosions ("Independence Day" and Artificial Intelligence (AI) because of the water scenes!. I loved "I Robot" but I really prefer older movies which are black and white over most others because the actors were superb in their acting skills!. Which do you like!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

What I also have to give credit to are the writers!. There has to be a story line and some of the movies out today have forgotten that part!.
Sometimes the dialogue/story line is so well done they could get monkeys to play the parts and it would still win an academy award!.
Clever endings are great, but I watch so many movies and read so many books it is difficult for me to be surprised, yet every once in a while a movie/story surprises me
What really gets me is when I rent a movie I have never heard of, with only marginally famous actors, and the movie ends up being one of my favorites!.!.!.go figure
Big example of surprise and great dialogue (even though it was a tv series and not the movie) "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"
First of all I am too old to watch a series about teenagers getting lucky!.!.!.not my cup of tea!. So many people I knew raved about it I had to take a chance and watch it!. The dialogue was clever, unique and made me a Josh Whedon fan for life
I really like the 3 movies you mentioned, but also liked "The Firm", "Clear and Present Danger" and the "Pelican Brief"
I preferred "Training Day" to the "American Gangster"
I never watch a movie in the middle-my rule has to be from the beginning only-no matter how much I love the movie

I would choose: actors with talent!. I'm not really into films with explosions, weapons, car chases etc!. I prefer a good screenplay, and a solid performance to complement the story!. A!.I!. is a fantastic film - one of my favorites!. It has awesome special effects and conveys a dramatic, "close to home" type atmosphere!. But in the end, it's Haley Joel Osment's performance that does it for me - which was a huge blunder by the Academy!.
