Question for fans of Narnia?!

Question: Question for fans of Narnia!?
Do you agree with movie critics that, in the movie adaptations, too much time is spent in battle scenes, whereas in the books the scenes of war and death were relatively small in contrast!?

In particular, here is the link to Ebert and Roeper website where Phillips (sitting in for Roger Ebert) and Roeper give Prince Caspian two thumbs down!. In particular, Roeper gave it a thumbs down because the movie deviated too far from canon (i!.e!. film director deviated too far from original author's message)!.

http://bventertainment!.go!.com/tv/buenavi!.!.!.

Agree or disagree, and why!?

I need your help because I haven't seen the movie yet, and if it truly is a disappointing adaptation of the book, I'd rather wait until it comes out on DVD and rent it, rather than paying $12 to see it tomorrow!.

Note: Sorry, but no points for just a one word 'yes' or 'no' answer!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

This is hard for me to answer!.!.!.I read the book and saw the movie the same day!. I wonder if that was a mistake!. The book is for children - the plot's relatively simple and the battles are short!. I thought the movie was much darker than the book - more battles, mistakes, made up sequences, etc!.

I love Lewis and his books, and this movie is not a replica of the book (and honestly, an exact replica would be kind of boring)!. I enjoyed the movie better the second time, accepting it as a good movie with a good message, just not exactly as the author wrote it!. His step son is a producer, so I think major changes probably had his consent!.

If you're a major purist who'd hate anything that wasn't just like the book, then don't go ($12 is a lot for a 2 hour movie - I paid half that)!. Aslan shows up a lot later, there's an entire attack on the castle nowhere in the book, Caspian's about 10 years older than he should be, and Susan and Caspian share a few moments - again nowhere in the book!. Those were the big things that rubbed me the first time (there are more diversions, but those are the major ones)!. If that would be a deal breaker for you, then don't go!.

However, the graphics are wonderful, I love the kids playing the Pevensie children, and Reepicheep and Trumpkin are hilarious!. It has wonderful moments, and I realize I haven't given a straight answer - I can see both sides!. I enjoyed it, but I knew what had been added and what was missing!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It was exciting; but like the Harry Potter adaptations, fans of the books are going hate what was done in the movie!.

The critic on NPR pointed out that Caspian's accent mysteriously disappears and re-appears without warning or reason and despite all the battle scenes, no blood was shown in the battles!.

Was it worth the price of admission!? I think so, but I judged the film as is and did not compare it to the book!. The special effects were great, the plot moved along quite well and the acting was fair-to-good!. No Oscar worthy perfomances, but none of the actors got on my nerves!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

No, I don't think so!.

Their reviews are not important!. It's just ruining the film!. Besides, if I were anybody, I won't even care to know what they say!.

No one's opinion matters, just to be fair!.

You have to see it for yourself and judge it yourself, but only you would believe you!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Go see the movie!. I didnt see the first one and i didnt get lost at all!. the scenes are awesomes, the graphics are great!.!.a bit long but its worth every penny!. see if you sneak food into the movies and you can save yourself moneyWww@Enter-QA@Com

Actualy, no, we still get two points for answering yes and no!.

But, go see it!. Judging from adverts, just to see the special affects is what makes it worth it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

They ALWAYS change stuff when they make books into movies!.

Battle scenes can be done well, but too much takes away from what the whole story is about!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

no because in the books it is harder to explain battle scenes compared to the move were more detail can be put in them!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I'm a movie addict but I'm also a reader and a lot of movies that I see I have read the books to!. And I think people make the mistake of comparing a book to it's movie, they are two separate things!. Movies can not copy the exact same guidelines of their books because even though the book may be entertaining it would not be an entertaining movie!.
I haven't seen Narnia 2 yet but I'm going to because I loved the first movie and did not compare it to the book therefore my opinion was not swayed with the changes made in the movie!.
If I was you I would only watch it if you can separate the book and the movie because like other adaptions they will be different!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
