Question: What older movie should I rent!?
There is a great independent video store by my house which has a large collection of old VHS!. Suggestions!? No preference in terms of style as long as it is good!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Please, do not rent any of the other films which have been mentioned!. Terrible stuff!. Do yourself a huge favor and rent John Cassavetes "Shadows" or John Cassavetes "Faces"!. If you don't mind subtitles, definitely rent Ingmar Bergman's "Persona" or, if they have it, ignore everything else I've mentioned and rent Andrei Tarkovsky's "Andrei Rublev!."
Enjoy! If you've got a nice video store by your house you're at a great advantage and should make use of the great films they've probably got!.
EDIT: Literally EVERY other suggestion given here is Hollywood banality at its finest!. Cassavetes, Bergman, and Tarkovsky were all geniuses of cinema!. De Mille, Hitchcock, Wilder, etc!. gave the world nothing in terms of art or meaning!. It really depends on what your reasoning for asking for these older movie suggestions were!. If you want to watch all of the films that Time magazine and AFI have canonized, watch the suggestions you've been given!. If you enjoy cinema as an artform, or are looking for beauty and meaning in films, go for the one's I've suggested!.

Rear Window --it's one of my favorite Hitchcock movies! My boyfriend, who isn't really into older films, absolutely loved it!
