Question: If they are only filming twilight for 7 weeks then why wont it come out until December!?

Editing a movie requires loads of time!.
It requires special effects, music, adding credits, making sure the actors have "perfect skin", increasing and decreasing film contrast and brightness, etc!.
After that is done the movie editors must compose a trailer for the movie which must be arranged and set to be put on television!. Then on top of that the movie has to be printed on film rolls and sent out to theaters and must go through a bunch of review sessions for critics and premiere shows!.
So half a year to do all of this isn't as much time as you think!.

If the film is going to be top heavy with Computer Generated Images and blue screen work, that will add weeks to the finish of the film!. Usually, it almost always takes longer to edit a film than it does to film it, and there are other things done in "post production" which are time consuming but not readily apparent!.
There's also the probability that the film won't be released until December because the holidays (from Halloween until New Years) are the next good "movie season!." If someone involved with the film thinks "Twilight" is Academy Award material, the best time to release it is in late December, just late enough to qualify for the Academy as a 2008 film but late enough that the production company count milk another round of bookings out of theaters if it did win an award or two!. A lot of "prestige pictures" are released in December, and the Producer of "Twilight" may be thinking his film will be among the "Prestige Pictures!."

It is called post production!. Just because they shot all those scenes they now need to edit them and add music, things like that!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
