I'm looking for a certain movie I saw in the 80's?!

Question: I'm looking for a certain movie I saw in the 80's!?
It was about a guy living in a an apartment building, with a beautiful female neighbor that played the cello!. I think he was a building architect!. The guy was trying to come up with a way to prevent building from falling apart during an earthquake!. (I think) He buys a home security system that he spills a drink on that goes hay wire and seems to come alive or gains a personality!.
I do know that there was some music in it!.
The ending from what I remember was the couple driving away in a car and surprised to hear the computer on the radio, or the computer's music on the radio!.

Anybody have a clue what I'm talking about!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Electric Dreams (1984)
IMDB synopsis:
This upbeat love story features an architect named Miles (Lenny von Dohlen), who decides to modernize his life by buying a computer!. Not knowing a thing about them, he purchases one~dropped by a klutzy clerk~then adds to the damage by spilling wine on it, alll of which ends up causing something amazing to happen: The computer gains self-awareness! Edgar (voice of Bud Cort) learns to communicate with Miles, and they become friends!. Then, Madeline (Virginia Madsen), a pretty cello player, moves into the apartment building, and Miles conspires with Edgar to win her love!. After Edgar and the woman start to share music through the heating ducts, HE falls for her, too! Soon, man and machine are battling for who has the right to date her!.

Here's my favorite moment, courtesy of YouTube: Edgar and Madeline's duet!

ARRGH! My connection went weird! I knew at a glance what your movie is because I've watched it so many times! Back in the Eighties, when it was in heavy rotation on HBO, I watched it nearly every time it was on and videotaped it!. Now, I need it to be aired again because my tape certainly is showing signs of wear!. Perhaps it's rerunning the duel so often! Besides, all three leads are on my favorite actors/actresses list!. I've always wanted the soundtrack to this film, which definitely has a cult following!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

No, because you never came out and gave a plotline!. What you remember seems to be disconnected bits and pieces!. Could you at least say what genre the film was in!? I get the impression that it might be science-fiction but I'm not even sure of that!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
