Question: What is the name of the old B&W film (within a film) where a man and woman are standing next to a tree!?
So here's what I know:
The I actually saw the clips from the OLD movie in a movie I watched recently, but can't remember the name of either film!. I'm thinking that in the film I watched the OLD movie was on as background effect and the film cut to it a couple of times!. The two clips I remember to some extent:
The first clip showed them driving around in a car!. Unfortunately that's all I remember about the first clip!.
The second clip showed them at some sort of park or trail or reserve standing in front of a tree!. There was a diagram near the tree that had information about the tree and the woman was pointing out the fact that the tree lived a very long life!. In fact, in a little increment of time in the tree's life we had lived and died!. The point was that human life is so short in the grand scheme of things!.
That's all I remember about the OLD film!. The new film I'm guessing had to be a film in which characters struggled with the issues of life and death to some extent!.

There's a scene like that in "Vertigo!." Where a woman and a man go into a forest and look at giant trees and their lifespan!. They look at a knocked down tree's circles (Don't know specifically what it's called) and see where they were born and when major events happened in history!.
"Vertigo" is a very good movie with a great ending!. If this isn't the movie you're looking for watch it anyway!. It's a Hitchcock classic and it's considered his best!.
EDIT: I think I know what you mean!. "12 Monkeys" (The time-travel film with Bruce WIllis) features "Vertigo" when Bruce Willis' character is in the movie theatres!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
