!.!.!.!.I really have to admit, although both films exhibit entirely different unearthly menaces, when I watched "30 Days of Night" for the first time, I got an almost de-ja-vu feeling, with regards to the tension filled feeling of isolation and helplessness, which was definitely profound and reflective in director John Carpenter's grotesque 1982 sci-fi horror shocker, "The Thing"; granted, they both take place in an isolated frozen area, in a small community of varied and eclectic citizens, but the overall tension and atmosphere of "30 Days!.!.!.!." is actually not that far removed from that of "The Thing"!.!.!.!.

!.!.!.!.in fact, I really got to thank you, because you just coined my evening's feature film viewing, as "30 Days of Night" and John Carpenter's "The Thing" is clearly going to make for one horrifically great double feature!.!.!.!.

!.!.!.a great observation!!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

"The Thing" is set in the Antarctic and is about a a shape-shifting alien that assumes the appearance of the people that it kills!.

"30 Days Of Night" is about an Alaskan town being attacked by a bloodthirsty gang of vampires!.

The only connection I see is that the settings are both cold areas!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

What is the question in this!? Are you asking if we think personally that 30 days of night was an indirect adaptation of the thing!?

No I personally don't think it was an adaptation!. A lot of movies/books/etc do seem to pull some inspiration from one thing or another but that doesn't technically mean it's an adaptation!. 30 Days of Night started as a comic book/graphic novel!.

I don't think there are very many things held in common other than the climateWww@Enter-QA@Com

I don't believe so, whilst I enjoyed 30 days of night and the always lovely Josh Harnett I still don't accept he had to do what he did when they only had a few more hours until sunrise!. I was vague so as not to spoil it for anyone!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The Thing Is!? A month of Sundays by the sound of it, and that's snow joke!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
