Can you help me with the name of this movie l,m trying to find?!

It was about this trapper who killed this guy by accident and the police came lookin for him!.He hidout in the bush and they tried to track him down!.The police hire this old man who was a native trapper to track him down and each time they thought they him corner he always seem to stay one step ahead of them,At the end of the movie they shot him on top of a mountain and he slid down the mountain!.!.and then he started shooting at the snow on top of the mountain to cause an avalange so the police wouldn,t find his body!. l used to watch this movie when l was a kid with my grandfather and l know it came out in the 60, or the 70,s,l!.m looking for the name of this movie and if you can help,,,THANKSWww@Enter-QA@Com
