How do movie makers decide which month to release their movie?!

Question: Seasons can influence release dates, but so can the known release dates of other blockbusters as this can cause competition in people going to see your movie
(eg When Lord of the Rings came out to cinema - not many other movies were in competition for it so they either released the movies in November, or later the next year)

They go by Time of year. Like if its a christmas movie...they are going to release it around christmas time. If it is a winter based movie...they will probably release it in the winter. They want to make the most money possible and if they release it at the wrong time of year then they may lose money.

it depends on if they want to make alot of money or win awards. usually if a producer thinks that the film can win awards like Oscars/Golden Globes they will open around November or December. if they are making a blockbuster film that they want to make alot of money they open it during the summer May-August. don't you notice that all the films open during the winter are all nominated for all kinds of awards and all the summer movies are blockbusters. all the movies in between those times are mostly crap.
