When was the last time Hollywood made a decent film?!

Question: and what was the movie

Answers: and what was the movie

Good question Will.. Being the age I am and growing up on
the back lots of Republic Studios and Monogram Studios,
I've been around the film industry for a long time. You can't
compare the films of the 40's 50's 60's with todays hi tech
and computer generated materials. For all intensive purposes
the best film will still be Gone with The Wind., Casablanca,
HIgh Noon, She wore a Yellow Ribbon, the Searchers,
Films of late liked the last one with Tommy Lee Jones.

I knew most of the B western Stars, from the day, It was my
job to bring the Stars Horses to them when they were to resume or start shooting a scene, My favorite of all the old
time Cowboys was Howard Hopalong Cassidy, those were
kinder and gentler days,

V for Vendetta was better than I expected.

The Bourne series was pretty good.

The Lord of the Rings movie were awesome.

not just Hollywood but Disney did a great job with Enchanted. It is one of the only live action Disney movies that I have been able to sit and really enjoy in years.

I thought Brokeback Mountain was a really well made film and I am looking foward to seeing the new Indiana Jones film as well. I think it will be one of the best action films done. The Indy movies are a great evening rental that I can sit with my husband and son and watch over and over again so I think the newest addition will be the same way.

I'm not saying that the cowboy sex did it for me either..lol! but what I am saying was that the actors chosen did a great job of creating believable characters, it told a story that was very different and held my interest, and was a bit sad and touched on issues some people face in life- acceptance and the need for compainonship no matter how others may view it.

I still love old movies the best John Wayne films, James Dean films... I think the older the better. Today's films at least most of them are so far off the mark that I hate to waste the 8.50 a person to see them.

Horton hears a Hoo was the most recent good one, but as for Great, last year there was both There Will Be Blood and No Country For Old Men.

Apocolypto... That film was amazin'....

Being honest, I can't say even if The silence of the lamb was a good or bad movie, that came out in 1991, But that movie did something to me that will never leave. Jodie foster role was awesome.,and the movie keep me terrified for her safety the whole time. So, since it had such an impact on me I'll go with it. still can't watch it, and be relaxed. even though I know the ending.

last year. "No Country For Old Men' i think qualifies as DECENT by anybodys standards.

The Lord Of The Rings.

Apocolypto and Passion were both great!
Master and Command was great acting and a throw back to the swashbuckling days.

Hollywood still does a lot of really good work, they probably toss out a lot of brain candy and the masses eat that up over the good drama!

When I read this question the movie that first came to mind was Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ movie, but then I realized that Gibson had to make that movie on his own because Hollywood wouldn't touch it.
Now that I think of it that way I know why it has been so long since Hollywood made a decent movie.

I think the movie had John Wayne in it.
I can't remember the name. I'm that old and can't even remember a john Wayne movie. oh poor poor me

your right, its been awhile, seeing a movie made in hollywood that hasnt had some agenda to it.Apocolypto,Passion of Christ,Mel Gibsons movies were made away from Hollywood with the actors own money.Lately the Movies worth seeing have all been done that way,or from foreign filmakers.I laugh my @ss off at how many times Hollywood has made anti Iraq war movies and failed miserably. You'd think they get a clue, instead of propaganda and political films. Now that I think about it,Spiderman I, II were pretty good,Im looking forward to Ironman coming out,but it seems they have no real new ideas in Hollywood either, they seem to keep remaking all the old movies and TV shows.

Seems` like 1959 ! Chalton Heston in " The Greatest Story Ever Told " !

Hart's War 2002- starring Colin Farrell, and Bruce Willis...my God, what a movie, honor first, and foremost! This is what all Americans should be like!

If you believe in the heart of America, and love your country beyond yourself, you can't go on in your life without seeing Hart's War.
