Line from FIGHT CLUB that i dont understand!?!

Question: "It's called a change over, the movie goes on and nobody in the audience has any idea." It's when Ed Norton faints onto the bed after he realises that he is Tyler Durden.. Does it have some kind of connection to Tylers job as a cut guy at the movies?

yeah...throughout the movie....they had change overs that would flash indicating that ed norton WAS tyler durden.....try watching the movie again....remember that tyler said he would hide porn images in movies he would cut.....this is similar to that but in the movie fight club itself, flashes of tyler durden were hidden in the film since the very beginning of it when his character hadn't even been introduced...u get it?...for example, when edward norton visits the doctor...a flash image of tyler durden appears....but if you blink, u'd miss them.....but the line just serves as a reminder that they had many change overs in the film and u coulda figured the twist out from the beginning..i hope that makes sense..i also know that they flash an image of a penis in the closing scene.....but it's hard to miss if ur not paying attention

It kind of breaks the fourth wall into analyzing the movie at that moment because that is the point where the audience watching "Fight Club" has no idea what's happening (for the first time)

It could, it would go along with the cigarette burn part and would show that it is that counterpart that is the narrator

i dunno?

Yes, because earlier in the movie he refers to the movie change over when he's working in the theater in the same manner..

A "change over' refers to when the projectionist changes reels. Movies come on several different reels, that are fed into separate projectors. The change over occurs when one reel is finished, and the next one starts. Despite what is said in the film, this process is now often automated.

It usually appears (if done correctly) seemless, and is not noticed by the audience. However, it does happen, and if you've ever noticed a strange "jump", usually indicated by a strange change in audio, the reels being changed are why.
