About the movie FIGHT CLUB?!

Question: What does the ending meaning to you. And how is the idea of 'change' enforced?

Answers: What does the ending meaning to you. And how is the idea of 'change' enforced?

when i see the ending it is like seeing the end of a romance....like, ed nortons character did all of those things just so he could grow as a man and be secure enuff in himself to be in a relationship with helena. very atypical romance but he overcomes all those obstacles so he can reconcile himself to be a less messed up person.

i think there are several changes in the film, both internally and externally. internally he has to embrace himself as a person and draw all of these conflicting emotions about himself together so that he can be the person he thinks she wants. he is very low on self esteem so he creates tyler to be the confident person she would like to be with. but he eventually embraces both sides of himself, which is embodied in him shooting himself in the mouth.

and at the same time, tyler is created out of his frustrations with the world, and becomes larger than life because he is so dissatisfied with his life and the world around him, and he is trying to address so many issues that he becomes almost like a legend. so all his issues with commercialism, advertising, superficiality etc are summed up in this one being. but when he realises that these things arent the answer, but also total anarchy isnt the answer either, he shoots himself in the mouth to destroy tyler, symbolically merging himself into one.

change comes in the form of a fresh start at the end, one if by bringing the world to ground zero like tyler says and destroying the financial centre which is the source of all these issues like commercialism in the first place. so by wiping the slate clean he is trying to create a new world that suits his ideals. and at the same time, change comes in the form of ed and helena getting together at the end and starting a new life together, because he has come to realise that she loves him for who he is, not for tyler, so change is him embracing himself to be with her. you have those two strong images, of the tower blocks falling, signalling the change of theworld he is trying to bring about, and the simple image of them holding hands, which is the change of his character to be a unified, confident whole between himself and tyler.

totally dont know if thats what you meant by change, but those are my thoughts anyway....love fight club, its my favourite film :) if you wanna talk fight club, drop me an email, i got fight club coming out my ears...

Rules 1 & 2.

With proper grammar and spelling.

Rules 1 & 2 of Fight Club.

thats like one of my favorites! the ending is where 'brad pitt' is him like his split personaltiy. i don tknow the answer to your second question

LOL at the rules 1 & 2. i dont get the second question, sorry.. change?? well, in the beginning edward norton was bored with his life and his life starts to change after he meets brad pitt. this movie kind of reminded me of after hours (martin scorsese picture)

It's a social description of two extremes in which you can live. Edward Norton that finally finds equilibrium when he "kills" Brad Pitt. It is a symbol of caring, but not caring too much to get trapped into that which means nothing.
