Fans of the movie "The Heiress"--Do you think Catherine was happy in t!

Question: Someone had brought up liking this movie in one of my last questions so I wanted to write about it. I really, really liked the movie but at the same time I found it troubling that no one in her life honestly cared about her. I suppose her aunt did, to an extent, but her aunt didn't seem to care if she got hurt either. And you can say the father cared but the things he said to her were pretty uncool---always comparing her to her mother and stuff. Then, of course, Morris dropped her like she was hot.

In the end of the movie, she kind of gets revenge. But do you think she ever finds happiness? What are your thoughts?

I do think she was happy in her own way. She found some kind of closure when she got back at Morris. I think she just resigned herself to a life alone, and was actually quite happy to live life that way. If you are talking about "happiness" in terms of romantic happiness, it is a possibility. True, she was nearly an old maid in those days, but her large fortune could still help her find a husband. But truly, she seemed content enough to live out her days alone. Just my opinion.
