R Rated Movie Question?!

Question: I am turning 14 this Friday. Me and 3 of my friends want to go see The Ruins and it is rated R. If my mom is with us and she buys the tickets can we get in to see it? We do not want to sit with her in the movie. 2 of my friends are dating (one is a guy and the other is a girl) and they do not want to sit near my mom

If your mom goes with you then there isn't a problem. After all rater R means restricted for those under 17 unless they are with a guardian or someone 17 or older. It doesn't matter where you sit in the movie, no one is going to come in and make sure that you're all sitting together. She sounds like an understanding mother, especially if she's willing to sit through a scary movie with you. Have fun.

Well your mom can buy you a ticket, but she still would have to be there. I think she can buy another person a ticket. But no more than that, if even. Your only option is to sneak in, and if you're 14 you will probably look too young to get away with being 17.

She has to buy you the ticket, but she doesn't have to sit near you. I don't know this for sure so check with the movie theater first.

just sneak into the movie...

I'm pretty sure she can only buy tickets for her own children (that would be only you), but most movie theatres are not super strict on this measure so she will most likely be able to buy tickets for all of you. It would make it even easier if you guys didn't stand up at the window with her, so they wouldn't have to see you. After that it would be all clear. And no, she would not have to sit with you in the movie theatre. You can sit wherever you want, it is a free country you know, and no movie theatre I have ever heard of gives you a seating assignment.

why don't your friends parents take them to the movie instead your mom?

Get someone who's 17 (or atleast looks it) to go with you. When my sister was 15 she'd get her friends (and me) tickets to R-rated movies and never even get questioned. I guess it's just a chance you have to take.

Have your mom go up to the ticket stand by herself and have her ask for 4 tickets. The ticket person will most likely not care that she is buying 4 tickets, only if it was a person who was very young. Then, she can give you the tickets and when you get to the person who tears them, they will not question you because you have already bought the tickets. I'm 18 and I tried to buy tickets for my sister, her friend, and brother, but the lady said she needed to see their ID's too, so I just bought them tickets to another movie and they snuck in with me to see the R rated film. Remember what I told you, but if worst comes to worse, you can always sneak in: its not that difficult.

If you're embarrassed to be seen with your mom, you're probably too immature to see an R movie. Sorry, kid.

But I guess it is easy at a multiplex to sneak into a movie -- unless it's sold out and the ushers get involved.
