The shining, absolute classic, a great study of a man going nuts.
Salems Lot.. the original
the original Dawn of the Dead. Imagine being the only human left and all the zombies are out to get you. scary but fun movie altogether.
"Dangerous Seductress" (1992, Indonesia) is my pick. Sexy Amy Weber is nude in it, and that is reason enough to love it. The story is not bad either. It begins in Indonesia with a carchase. Robbers wreck in a cemetery. Blood and bodyparts revive a witch executed 1000 years ago. We see the bones, then veins and organs grow on them, next muscles appear, and finally skin. There is not enough to fully regenerate her, so one leg and one arm are still only bone. A big dog grabs a leg, and its blood regrows the bony limbs. In LA, Tonya Offer (aka Lawson) is beaten by her lover and flees to Indonesia to be with her sister. Soon, the sister goes to Bali to model. Tonya unwisely reads from a book of magic spells. The Queen of Darkness is held to her grave by spells, but Tonya allows her to appear in a mirror and possess her. Tonya goes to bars and picks up men. She gruesomely kills them and vomits their blood into the mirror for the witch. The brutal lover comes to Indonesia, and his blood goes into the mirror too. He deserved it. When the sister returns, she sees something is wrong and gets the Australian aborigine who gave her the magic book. The witch drags the sisters and the model's Indonesian lover into the mirror. The Aussie jumps in after them, and they escape while the abo battles the witch. The house burns down. Was the witch destroyed? watch for the sequel!
Halloween-I like the 1st one but I like the new one better because it is more up to date and it tells more about how michael became the way he did.

Shaun of the Dead-- (I know its a romantic comedy... but you gotta give it some horror props for its blood and gore content)
