It is one of the best movies ever made. It stayed true to Jim Morrison's life, his poetry and music. The Doors were amazing as they evolved, and then dissolved. I watch it ever so often just because it is astonishing.

Val Kilmer (who played Jim Morrison, lead singer of The Doors) drove to San Diego, I think it was, to the guy who actually had Jim Morrison's leather pants and tried them on. He said, "They were 'gamy' smelling." He did an incredible amount of research to actually become Jim in the movie, including gaining about 35 pounds for the last few scenes of Jim's life.

There is a monument in Paris, France to Jim Morrison; lots of grafitti good-byes, and I love yous, hearts, flowers ... they still are placed on the monument. In fact, it is the fourth "must see" item by most tourists. Jim died in his bathtub, perhaps a heart attack brought on by his lusty life.

A lot of people didn't believe he died, just like Elvis. At that time there were several musical stars who died at age 27 -- Jim, 'The Rose' Janis Joplin, and Jimi Hendrix. All were due to booze and alcohol; and the ramifications these have in the human body when they are abused. All three were a terrible loss to the world of music.

I loved the way "Break on through" was done in the Whiskey a Go Go scene; how the audience was all worked up, and then Kilmer turned and knocked them off their socks.

If you like music, are interested in it at all, or just want to know the music of the late 60's-early 70's -- then watch this movie.
..

I haven't seen that movie in so long

The story is that he died of a heart attack in his bathtub and drowned, but there was so much "wrong" with his death, we shall never fully know

I have seen the movie. And Stephen K has the story right. Love, honey
