How does suspense differ from surprise in movies?!
Question: when any character has a desire (i.e. approach girl/ find the grail) and this desire is blocked by an obstacle or another character, then this leads to suspense. that is because we are curious and anticipate possible outcomes.
surprises are unforeseen events or revelations that impact the audience. curiosity (suspense) is usually more desired in films - although some of the most memorable scenes happen as surprises.

Suspense can build throughout a film and give you the feeling of unease but also in excitement. A surprise would be something that momentarily shocks you but the surprised feeling is over after it has happened. I dont know whether that makes sense.
