The movie was not historically accurate.
i wish they made up their minds on where the movie is set, is it africa or eygipt, and how did they manage to make swords and armor, and the gold cap of the piramid

I have no idea what they were thinking when they made 10,000 BC. I thought it was horrible and it was not accurate. The first half hour you follow a group of people with dreadlocks....I mean, even the mammoth's had dreadlocks. Come on now!!!!!
Don't be surprised about the boats. Heck, people have had rafts, canoes, small boats for more than 40,000 years. How do you think the ancestors of the aborigines got to Australia?
