What's the scariest movie you have ever seen (can be thriller/sci-fi/etc. - !

Question: I'm seriously bored, and I'd like to search for some new movies. I'm not talking about the Saw movies, Hostel, Hills Have Eyes, etc. They were okay, just more bloody than anything - it got kind of boring after awhile.

Sorry, I don't really like the older movies (like the original Dawn of the Dead, etc, or Psycho, Halloween, etc). =/

Here's a list of some movies I did like - maybe you can tell me some to recommend? If not, just list the scariest movie you've ever seen and I might check it out =]
- Silence of the Lambs
- The Descent (I like the movies where stuff pops out at you)
- Identity
- The Ring
- Broken
- the Cube trilogy
- Dead End
- Killing Ariel
- One Missed Call (the original Japanese version; I haven't seen the new one)
- Sweeney Todd
- They Wait

Well since you mentioned The Descent, check out Neil Marshall's first film, Dog Soldiers. As for One Missed Call, it's a pretty safe bet that all American remakes of foreign films are going to be crap.

As for other films...
Alien
John Carpenter's The Thing
Phantasm
In The Mouth Of Madness--seriously underrated
Frailty--brilliant!
Dagon--quite good adaptation of Lovecraft
Slither
Razorblade Smile--hard to find and a bit gory, but very good.
Behind The Mask; The Rise Of Leslie Vernon--excellent
Fido--horror comedy can go very wrong very quickly. This is a hoot; think Lassie with zombies

If you're into Asian horror..
The Red Shoes
Shutter
The Grudge/Ju-On
Another Heaven--The ending's a bit weak, but it has its moments
Junk
Save The Green Planet--hard to describe, horror/scifi/mystery. Well worth a look.
Uzumaki--not so much scary as it is profoundly unsettling.

The Exorcist. You have to be Catholic to REALLY get how scary it is.

for me it was i am legend.
i know its like not even scary but the posibility of a killer virus epidemic is scary.

I would have to say the excorcist was the scariest one for me.
I don't know if you have seen it yet, but I really thought it was creepy because it was based on a true story. You also have to be catholic to see whats so scary about it.

Hope I helped..

Prom Night, or One Missed Call

I've been Waiting for you, you might like I liked that and Also one of my favorites it The Entity...

This is really embarrassing lol, but my step dad told me "The blair witch project" was actually real, the people who videoed it were missing and thats what they recorded. After he told me it was just kidding with me :P I really did **** my self thought when i was thinking that these people did actually experience this and go missing. heh

Its an old black and white movie ... before the days of spectacular special effects when the story itself had to make or break a movie. Good luck finding it, though. If you do, its worth watching - The Haunting of Hill House - not to be confused with The House on Haunted Hill, with is ok, but not nearly as good.

Stephen King's Children of the Corn and Christine. My word, to this day, I am unable to go into a corn field and my heart races each time Im witness to a car's lights suddenly shining while walking at night.

i like the shining, the exorcist, rosemary's baby, rear window, blair witch project (i know; either you love it or you hate it!), and open water. i like most of the movies you've listed, and i love zombie movies too!

shaun of the dead is a great zombie comedy if you haven't already seen it!

I got freaked out by "House of 1000 Corpses" and "The Devil's Rejects." Another movie that my friend got freaked out by is "Fallen" with Denzel Washington. It's about a detective trying to catch a serial killer who is a spirit that transports from body to body by touch. It's actually very good. "A Clockwork Orange" is a classic that is hard for some people to watch. It combines violence, rape, and classical music. I'd recommend any of those three or even "Death Proof" by Quentin Tarantino. That one is pretty scary and has some great car chase scenes.

The Grudge

cujo and the hills have eyes and the grudge and the breed.

anything from George Romero is awesome

out in selected theaters is Diary of the dead which im waiting for the release in dvd...

The Invasion (not so scary but allright)
The Mist
Resident Evil Apoc.
30 days of night (was allright)

some on top of my head

hope u find an awesome movie
