Who SHOULD have won Best S. Actor in 1994, Martin Landau or Samuel L. Jackson?!

Question: Umm... lets think...Samuel L. Jackson! Hello? This man does not get half the recognition he deserves. He was the beating heart and soul of Pulp Fiction, and gave one of the strongest, most deep, and convincing preformances I have ever seen! His acting in Pulp Fiction is top notch, but the Academy overlooks that because of the content of the movie itself. Martin Landau gave a great preformance in Ed Wood, but it wasn't the strongest or best. He role must have been hard to play, but hey all actors have challenges!

Samuel L. Jackson did an excellent job in Pulp Fiction, as he has in many other films. One I particularly liked was The Red Violin. Another was Black Snake Moan.

On the other hand, Martin Landau's portrayal of Bela Lugosi was heartbreakingly good.

Having seen both films several times, I would still vote for Landau, but agree with you that Jackson should get more recognition.

Both performances were excellent, probably the best work either will ever do (although Landau is also excellent in CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS). The Academy, bless its heart, often misses the mark when handing out awards or even setting nominations. EW.com did a great spread around Oscar time on performances that weren't even nominted--Anthony Perkins in PSYCHO, Mia Farrow in ROSEMARY'S BABY, James Stewart in VERTIGO, Gene Kelly in SINGIN IN THE RAIN, Rita Hayworth in GILDA, Kate Hepburn in BRINGING UP BABY, Malcolm McDowell in CLOCKWORK ORANGE.... And to think that Alfred Hitchock, Richard Burton, and Peter O'Toole have never won!
