What does "unrated" mean on an otherwise rated movie?!
Question: I notice this especially with movies driven to teens. If a movie is rated pg-13, why will there be another dvd copy that says unrated/uncut? Is there anything a whole lot better about unrated movies?

It is an issue of censorship. The rated version has been censored by a governing body. The unrated version is uncensored and released as the version the filmmakers intended. It's similar to the two versions released on DVD i.e. a theatrical version will usually be followed by a 'Director's cut' version. The uncensored versions represent the film as the filmmakers wanted the audience to see, but weren't allowed because someone thought it was too... gross, disturbing, shocking etc...

Actually i thnk it means that they cut bad stuff out, but in the unrated versions they dont.
unrated means the uncut version that they did not want to release in theaters because they wanted the movie to appeal and be available for teens.
Also, movies that do not make it pass the rating system (either they are rated NC-17 or X which will guarantee no theatrical release) must be cut to be R-rated. However, these movies are then released in the original version which they call "Unrated"
unrated means more obscene stuff. nudity, language, violence...anything.
UNRATED/UNCUT= means that it is the original film that was meant to come out before being rated by MPAA..the film that is not rated by the MPAA and its a bit different from the rated because the unrated has more special features and shows a bit more of horror, nudity and adult content..I would much rather but the unrated because it shows more gore and shows everything that was meant to be in..
