How to conquer your fear of watching horror movies?!

Question: This is kind of embarrasing, but I am really curious about horror movies, but I am kind of scared of watching them. I guess I am not really used to watching that kind of stuff. When ever I search the channels to see if anything good is on TV, and I see a horror movie, I become curious of the plot, but when it comes to scary moments...I FREAK OUT!!!
I'll tell you what I am kind of used to: some scary charecters(not all), monsters, kind of used to sudden screams or appearences, and some blood. I watched a couple of horror movies like: Saw 2, and this REALLY SCARY movie: Butchered. And maybe some other ones. I wanna watch scary movies but when I start: I freak out. PLS help or give me some tips.

don't be embarassed, most people actually forget that most of the fairy tales we were told as children were horror stories. what horror movie lovers don't tell a lot of people is that such storylines are lessons in survival. pay attention to what you got out of all those fairy tales you were told as a kid--how does the "smart" or main character survive a devistating situation?
if u still need some help, just watch one or two of the original disney movies, you know, the ones that didn't sugar coat that someone was going to die (snow white, sleeping beauty). then, move on to the adult stuff.

start off slow: misery, the shining, vacancy, pitch black, episodes of "supernatural", blade II

then go to the better stuff: jeepers creepers 1 & 2, 10 to midnight, signs, skeleton key

then the creme of the crop: alien, the thing, dog soldiers, no country for old men, borderland, wolf creek, wrong turn, 30 days of night

Seriously - watch them with the sound off or very very low. Its not as bad that way.

Don't see movies in theaters, watch with your friends, turn dow the volume, and don't get really into it or you'll get freaked out

scary movies just aren't as good without loud sound though!
you have to start with less-scary movies and you'll slowly get used to them. i used to be absolutely terrified of scary movies, i wouldn't even watch The Ring. but now they're like my favorite kind. if you have friends or anybody that will watch them with you, that's better when you're starting out. watch as many as you possibly can, thats the only cure. [=
(by the way, Saw I was the best of all of them, so you should watch the first)

Watch with your friends, that way they'll all be as scared as you, and you'll feel much safer.

if you get them on DVD then watch the the making off so that u know its fake.

Well i love scary movies bc they have more meaning to it but i get freaked out sometimes to but u have to think about it and tell ur self that it isnt true u could watch it with some friends or with ur parents (if u arent grown) thats wat i would do just tay positive
