In the movie The Shinning what is the meaning of showing the picture of Jack Tor!

Question: at the end of the movie?

Answers: at the end of the movie?

We went over this in A Film as Literature class I took.
I think it's just supposed to convey that Jack or whatever his character is has been reincarnated maybe over and over again. Remember when Jack says "I feel like i've been here before..." and someone else says "But you've always been the caretaker, Mr Torrance." They leave it kind of up in the air without explaining too much. Hope I helped some :)

I don't really know, but this is my interpretation...

I would either think that it meant that he belonged there the whole time or that he replaced the old inns keeper in his actions.

I'm sure someone that read the book would have a better understanding (if it was included in the book) I also haven't seen the movie in awhile...so yea..

As far as I know the photo means Jack has been absorbed into the hotel, which would make sense as just about everyone in the picture was haunting the hotel.

Just before the end credits, the audience sees a photograph of a lavish ball which had been hanging in the hotel the entire time. In the center of the picture is a young Jack; the caption reads: "Overlook Hotel, July 4th Ball, 1921".

I think it means, that he is joining all of the dead to haunt the hotel.
