paranoia...just look at The Game, Seven,
and Zodiac, not to mention Fight Club.
There are dozens of known and unknown directors
who can manhandle an audience. I won't belabor here.
I think it really depends on what genre of movie you like.
Personally, my favorite director has to be scorsese. I love his gangster/mob type movies.
