Was the Rocky Horror Picture show movie controversial when it came to theaters b!

Question: Now this is going to date me ...

YES, it was somewhat controversial (around the more religious/conservative communities) -- and as far as around College Campuses -- it was something that was an Audience Participation Hit (Late Night Weekend Shows) ... and I can remember having a friend convince me to attend one of these screenings after a long week of mid-term exams (I was a Grad Student at the time).

It was a HOOT! Not only did the 'enthusiasts' come dressed up -- but they came with props too -- and believe me .. It was such a study of people (and the laughs -- I was in the back row -- it was SO SO Funny) ... that it was definitely worth the price to see what was happening.

You have to remember the times -- lots of social 'changes' were already in progress (after all, we'd already had the Hippies -- the "Alternative Lifestyles" had/were being more prominently discussed ... and this was just a continuation of the discussions on-going. (Just a bit more 'visual').

No, as it was so under the radar, no one saw it

I dont remember it as controversial, but it was ahead of its time, and became a cult classic, almost instantly.
