Favorite B-Movies?!

Question: Inspired by my viewing of a LOW budget 70s "docu'/monster" movie called "The Ledgend of Boggy Creek".

I remember seeing it on tv as a kid & it scared the bJesus outta me. Funny to see now though! :)

The 50- the 70s had some Great/lousy/fun b-grade films. Look like they took all of 20 bucks to produce!

Hi Fonzie.

First of all, i would like to clarify something, a "B-Movie" doesn't necessarily mean a "Bad Movie". In fact, in many cases it would simply mean that there is a great movie-maker who lacks the funding to make a big-budget movie.

Some of my favorite B-Movies include:

1. Evil Dead.

Arguably the greatest B-Movie ever made, Bruce is a frikin' legend. Hail to the king, baby!

2. Braindead (AKA Dead Alive).

One of Peter Jackson's earliest movies, it's IMO the greatest and the funniest zombie movie ever made.

3. The Child's Play movies.

Honestly, Child's Play is one of, if not THE scariest movie i've ever seen. Chucky is one hilarious, yet scary SOB, his laugh is so scary that it sends shivers down my spine!

4. Clerks.

My all-time favorite comedy movie, and IMO the funniest movie ever made. This movie is a *real* B-Movie, it was shot in black-and-white and was roughly edited due to a very modest budget of US$27,575. To acquire the funds for the film, Smith sold a large amount of his extensive comic book collection in 1993, maxed out eight to ten credit cards with $2000 limits, dipped into a portion of funds set aside for his college education and spent insurance money awarded for a car he and Jason Mewes lost in a flood.

Yep, Kevin Smith is a real genius.

5. Cube

A masterpiece, one of my all-time favorite movies. An extremely thought-provoking movie.

6. Steven Seagal and Van Damme movies.

How can you NOT enjoy cheesy action movies such as Double Impact or The Glimmer Man?

Let me make it clear, i'm a hardcore Steven Seagal fan, even if he now weighs about 3546434324 pounds, i still love the great Steve.

7. Freddy Got Fingered

When i watched this movie, i laughed 'till i nearly had a stroke. Definitely one of the funniest movies i've ever seen.

8. Last Action Hero

This movie is a classic, i was a little kid when it came out and i remember being obsessed with it. I think i've seen it +999999 times

9. The Meteor Man

A guy gets hit in the chest by a souped-up chunk of meteor, he wakes up the next day andhe is a.......superhero!!

A classic comedy, one of my all-time favorite movies.

10. Open Water

Based on the true story of two scuba divers accidentally stranded in shark infested waters after their tour boat has left.

An excellent movie, very disturbing though.

11. Pinocchio's Revenge

A *very* cheesy and a *very* cheap mid-90's horror movie. Still entertaining though.

12. Pulp Fiction

Who would've thought that this exploitative B-Movie is going to be one of the most influential and critically acclaimed movies of all-time?

13. Sniper

A great flick of the early 90's with Billy Zane. One of my favorites.

14. Wolf Creek

A terrific horror/thriller movie from Australia, one of the best movies of 2005.

15. Wrong Turn

A surprisingly *very* enjoyable mindless-slasher movie.

Hope those movies were enough, i think i ran out of characters LOL!

Edit: That's true! both Kevin Smith's sister and mother acted in Clerks. LOL!

Thanks man. Report It

Yeah those were the days. They are some great collector's items if you get off on those type of movies.

    Earth Vs. the Flying Saucers.
The Thing From Another World (the original)
    The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms

I have so many but the one thats really sticking out in my mind right now is Prince Of Space.
Its cheesy beyond belief & it old B&W Japanese.

Little Shop of Horrors is always up there, but that's still a classic, so I guess it's kind of obvious.

There's also the Richard Elfman film The Forbidden Zone, which although it isn't really a B-movie per se, is a very odd movie, and was done on a very low budget.

    Last House on the Left
Attack of the 50 Foot Woman
    Dragstrip Girl
    Rock All Night
The Street Fighter (Sonny Chiba not that peice of crap they made a few years ago.)
    Any Bruce Lee movie
    Vanishing Point
    Dirty Mary Crazy Larry
all I can think of right now. If you like the grindhouse type of movie, they are starting to put a bunch of them together on DVDs. A crazy has hit a new generation sense the movie 'Grindhouse' has come out.

any ed wood movie :] but i would call them like D- movies.

    Steven Seagal and Van Damme
