Answers: and be comfortable in their own skin..
like hairspray, etc..

Isn't it sad that there aren't many examples out of the tens of thousands of films? Most deal with AFTER the person has lost weight, including "Now Voyager!" and "Zoolander"; movie comedies rely a lot of overweight people or "former fatties".

Marty
Babycakes
Georgy Girl
Calendar Girls
Only the Lonely
Shirley Valentine
Martha & I (1995)
Muriel's Wedding
Hairspray~both versions
Real Women Have Curves
I Don't Buy Kisses Anymore
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
My Favorite Year~Lainie Kazan as Belle Carroca
Bridget Jones's Diary~I don't count the second one, which treats Bridget in a cruel manner.
Some Like It Hot~Marilyn Monroe is overweight in this film, especially for the Roaring Twenties, yet she is the object of desire.

Watch Mae West's films. She never was a slender lady, yet she was confident enough to portray herself as desirable, smart, confident and a savvy businesswoman, with more than her fair share of admirers. And, she was extremely popular~on and off the set! Watch her charm the guys in these:
The Heat's On (1943) .... Fay Lawrence
My Little Chickadee (1940) .... Flower Belle Lee
Every Day's a Holiday (1937) .... Peaches O'Day
Go West Young Man (1936) .... Mavis Arden
Klondike Annie (1936) .... The Frisco Doll/Rose Carlton/Sister Annie Alden
Goin' to Town (1935) .... Cleo Borden
Belle of the Nineties (1934) .... Ruby Carter
I'm No Angel (1933) .... Tira
She Done Him Wrong (1933) .... Lady Lou
Night After Night (1932) .... Maudie Triplett
She definitely had confidence because she wrote plays and screenplays, always focusing on herself!

NOTE: Good one for mentioning the "Shrek" movies! It did give fairytales a twist, by having her prefer being an ogre instead of the human princess.

Heavy males get breaks with scripts far more than overweight females. Kathy Bates' characters generally are absolutely miserable and rarely are happy, content women. About the only exception is at the end of "Fried Green Tomatoes". Conchata Ferrell had only one lead role in a period film as a widow who works for plainsman Rip Torn; it becomes a marriage of convenience. Even the outspoken Camryn Manheim hasn't shown up as a femme fatale or even the love interest, at least as far as I know. However, I would add Lainie Kazan to the list of actresses who often is cast as a confident, attractive woman.

This film about the subject is quite good:
To Be Fat Like Me (2007 TV movie)
IMDB synopsis:
Based on a true story. Pretty, popular, and slim high-schooler Aly Schimdt had plans of earning a sports scholarship to college but a knee injury ruins her chances. She decides to enter a documentary contest in hopes of winning money for college. Because she believes that overweight people, like her mom and brother, seem to make excuses about how the world perceives them, Aly decides to attend a rival high school as a heavily overweight person for the documentary but not change her personality. Aly intends to prove that personality will outshine physical appearance: but, when she's met with ridicule, harassment, and name-calling, she begins to see things differently and realizes how badly she's treated her mom's and brother's weight problem.

Tao of Steve if you're a dude.

Fat Albert always seemed like he was pretty happy with himself...

Real Women Have Curves

Spanglish.... It has Adam Sandler in it!!! Depends on the age but it has an over weight girl in it and they deal with her mom not being understanding but their maid is and the father (A.S.) about her weight ...I don't know if you've seen it but this is the only one i could think of off the top of my head!!!

I thought Shrek 1 was a totally original fariy tale because it doesn't end with Fiona turning into the perfect fairytale princess. She's in love with Shrek and after the spell is broken over her, she stays fat and lives hapily ever after!!!

Hairspray
anything with Queen Latifah,John Belushi, Drew Carey, Marlon Brando, Jack Black, or Kathy Bates, Rosie o'donnell, etc
