Logic error in "The Rock"?!

Question: After watching "The Rock" for the zillionth time, during the scene where the SEAL team lands and Sean Connery rolls through the furnace then opens the door to let the others enter, it finally occurred to me that he could have used that door when escaping and never gone through the furnace at all, right? So why would he have gone through the furnace when he escaped?

maybe when the jail was up and running that door was locked and bolted shut but now that it is just a museum they have opened all the locked doors in case of fire and people need to escape.

just to make the movie look cooler and make it look like it was hard to get out.

because it is movie, & a bad one at that

literary license

I think Courtney's got the right answer. It's not necessarily an issue with the logic in the movie.
