What did you think about "Passion of the Christ"?!

Question: I'm kind of scared to watch it, I realize that it would be able to shed some light on the torturing of Christ, and that maybe I wouldn't be able to take it as a story, but instead as a gift. However, a movie is a movie, and I'm scared. I don't like blood or violence in my movies (i'm 14)

Well, if you don't like blood or violence, then you might want to wait a bit to watch this film. You can watch "The Passion Recut" which is a heavily re-cut version, and tones down on the graphic violence. Although it is highly graphic, its interpretation seems realistic. Before that movie, people never realized how much Jesus was tortured or how bad he got it. They just knew, from the Bible, that he was simply "tortured." It really opened people's eyes. When I saw it in theaters, there wasn't a dry eye in the house (except for mine), although I must admit, it did have me emotionally stirred. It's definitely a powerful film.

would never watch it

all it sheds light on is that mel gibson used christians to make a lot of money, he should be ashamed of himself

If you are scared to watch it then just wait until you are not.

This shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

For me at least, the brutality was a bit too painful to watch, but,it's historically accurate. The Romans were known for their bloodthirstiness(funny how they considered all non-Romans"barbarians) and scourging was a popular form of punishment, meant to scare the living daylights out of the people,as was crucifixion

I'm agnostic, and only saw the Passion of the Christ relatively recently. I watched it with a very open mind, but was very disappointed. On a par with the Saw films. If you're after lots of blood and shouting and torture, you'll like it. If you're wanting to take anything else from the movie, you'll regret sitting down to watch it. It's not horrible, just pointless gore.

Me too. Of the people I talked to who've seen it, they couldn't stand watching it either. It's very graphic, and very sad, and when I went to see it, the worst part is the flogging and the crucifixion (I had to go outside until it was over). And my dad saw it with me (and so did my mom), and both of them were crying (which they never do at movies). I think it's too much for me to take, so I still haven't seen it in its entirety (I don't know if I'll ever be able to see all of it).

The funny thing is, I can watch movies with intense battle sequences, like Troy and Saving Private Ryan, and I'm perfectly OK, but I can't watch this one (it's way too hard for me to see it).

I worked at a movie theatre when it came out. A lot of Catholic schools came to see it and many of them ended up leaving durring the film because it was too much for them. Pretty much all of them were crying. I don't think I could see it again, but the music is fantastic.

My boyfriend knows Mel Gibson, and this was a passion peice for him. Gibson is a very devout Catholic.

I was very disappointed with this movie. I went into it thinking that I might learn something about Jesus. That was not the case. The only thing this movie showed was the violence surrounding Jesus' death. I knew about that going in.

If u really belive in god u should watch it, its one powerful movie forget what everyone else is saying
