"Angus" where an overweight boy became 'cool' at the end of the movie after he made the popular 'cool' guy look like a loser.

Clint Eastwood (if you consider quiet and taciturn as being shy) in a couple of his last dusters. What was one of them called? 'Unforgiven' or something like that.
Pump Up the Volume (very eighties, very teen, but still pretty good)
Little Voice (haven't seen it, but it got good reviews. With Michael Caine, it can't help but be pretty good)
High Fidelity--one of the supporting characters is very shy but winds up with the girl
