Fa-buel-ler des-teen dam-eel-lee poo-lan, luh

Just tell them it's called "The Fabulous Destiny of Amelie". Unless, you have really got pronunciation of the French language, I would suggest saving yourself the embarrassment.

I'd just say, 'I saw a french movie last friday'. If they ask what it was called, hand them a pre-made note of the title. Simple.

Fabul O desteen de Amelie Poo lane, le

Er..
FA Byoo Low de Steen day Emily Poo Lane, Lay

Make sure the byoo goes all together.

In English speaking countries, the film is often simply referred to as 'Amelie' (AH-meh-lee). It's fairly well-known for a foreign film; you might find that people will know what you're talking about.

Amelie is all you have to call it; that's the accepted short title.

I do believe it is Parisian French -- pronounced phonetically as best I can spell it out thusly:

"Fahb-oo-lowe dess-teen deh-Ahm-aa-lee Poo-lahn, Luh"

The 'Le' after the comma is the masculin form of the word 'The', which we in English would put at the front of the title thusly: "The fabulous destiny of Amelie Poulain!"

A Parisian Frenchman would speak this with certain 'back in the throat, nasal nuansances and special curlings of the tongue. It's a beautiful language, I think.
